Nice watch - close to the Riva but better

I had a choice between the Citizen Riva or the Miramar and chose the Miramar for two reasons, the band appeared more delicate and the the nubs around the face aligned with noon, 3, 6, 9 making it a bit easier to read. I find this to be a very versatile watch, I wear it to work and on the weekends. The diamonds are understated bling. The watch borders on delicate and sporty. The height of the watch face does not get in my way (as did many other models) and it was good value. Highly recommended and I plan to wear this watch for the next ten years.

Great everyday watch

I have owned my Citizen for almost a year now, and still look at it with as much happiness and love as I did the day I bought it. This is a good solid time piece. Heavy, and thick. This is no cheap feeling watch. I wear it everyday because it goes well with any outfit. Whether I am dressed up in formal wear, or in my gym clothes this sporty, but elegant watch fits with any outfit. It's also very durable. I work out everyday and this watch goes with me. It gets knocked around and bumped on things all the time and it is not beat up in anyway. The face is pretty resistant to scratches and the diamonds stay in place. I constantly get compliments on my Citizen. I never leave home without it!

Big, Bold, and Beautiful...

The Citizen Women's FB1180-56D Eco-Drive Miramar Stainless Steel Sport Watch is one big, bold, and beautiful timepiece. Like all Citizen's Eco-Drive watches, it needs no battery and should run accurately for years.

The Miramar is not a watch for those seeking an unobtrusive, dainty watch. It is, however, perfect for women who like a larger, yet feminine watch. The diamonds surrounding the bezel are small, but add enough glitz to lift this watch out of the realm of the ordinary. Tiny, raised stainless steel dots between the diamonds enhance the look. The mother-of-pearl face and its nacre provide visual interest; the watch is easy to read. Luminous hands allow one to tell time correctly, even in a darkened room. The stainless steel look is lovely.

If one likes a tight fitting watch, the Citizen Women's FB1180-56D Eco-Drive Miramar Stainless Steel Sport Watch band will fit up to an approximately 7 1/2 inch wrist. My wrist is 5 1/2 inches in diameter; I had 5 links removed so that the band is approximately 6 inches in diameter. This allows the watch to move freely on my wrist without spinning around so that the crystal is in danger of being scratched. Because of the size of the watch and width of the band, I would not recommend having a tight fit when sizing the Citizen Women's FB1180-56D Eco-Drive Miramar Stainless Steel Sport Watch. I believe extra links can be purchased from Citizen; their customer service is excellent as we experienced when my spouse had his Blue Angel watch repaired and a new crystal put on.

I originally looked at the Riva, but did not like the blue stem and put off purchasing that watch. I put the Miramar on my Amazon Wish List when it first became available, but never purchased it. However, as the Miramar became harder to find I decided it was time to purchase one before it completely unavailable. Amazon had the best price available from an authorized source; this is important so that the five year warranty is valid.

I definitely recommend the Citizen Women's FB1180-56D Eco-Drive Miramar Stainless Steel Sport Watch for anyone wanting a lovely watch for themselves or for anyone getting a gift for that woman in your life who likes a big, bold, beautiful watch.

If you're wondering whether it fits on a small wrist...

I brought this watch to a watch repair shop and had it resized to fit my 5.5" wrist. Took the guy about an hour to get the job done. At first he took out 6 pins but found out it was too tight on me. With 4 pins removed (and 4 remaining), this watch now stays nicely on my wrist (with enough room for my little finger to slip in), and doesn't turn due to the size of the face and the clasp.

Appearance:
The watch looks better in person than in the photos. The ceramic band is very lustrous and "creamy"-looking. Fingerprints and grease get onto it easily though, but can easily be cleaned off. The MOP dial consists of 2 parts - a circle at the center, and a disc around it that is slightly more raised than the circle. The hour hand moves in the circle, the minute and second hands which are both higher than the hour hand hover over both the circle and the raised disc. I hope you get what I mean, because if you can see it, it is really interesting. The 2 MOP colors are also different for the piece I have - the circle is almost colorless (just cream/ivory), and the disc radiates in mainly red and green, if you view it from the right angle. This gives a sort of contrast between the center and the disc, I'm not sure if this was deliberately matched, or simply random, so each piece might be different.

Another thing - The back of the case on my piece is made of ceramic at the center, not fully stainless steel like in the pic from Amazon. I guess I just like it better :)

UPDATE 1 DEC 2011:
I have owned this watch for a year now and I can tell you how well it holds up. I wear it 5-7 days a week (that's almost everyday!) and it has accompanied me to the pool, the beach, snorkeling and even a hot spring. Some time ago it sustained a few small scratches on the band at the back when I fell on a hard rough street pavement and instinctively used my forearm to brace myself against the impact. I did not see the scratches immediately after the fall as they were quite faint and you had to look closely at certain angles, and I was too concerned about if it had been damaged or if it would suddenly shatter if I gave it a shake. Neither. This watch is still working perfectly well. This is impressive considering how hard I fell (I literally flew forward about 1 or 2 metres away from where I tripped, my friend who was with me was so shocked and astonished and we kept laughing afterward about how far I "flew"!). However dirt and grit do tend to get into the scratches and make them more obvious as time goes by, so I have to give it a good scrub once in a while. But this incident just showed me how well built my watch is and I love it even more now :)

Too Huge

I knew this watch was going to be big because I read the reviews. I like big watches so I was fine with that. This watch is beautiful, an amazing watch for the price. The only problem is that it just massive, thick and huge. My wrist is on the smaller side of average and this watch took up my entire wrist. I kept the watch for a few weeks hoping that it would shrink but it the end I had to send it back. If they ever make this watch in a 35mm size I will be first one to buy it. Beautiful watch, but beware, it is as huge as the reviews say.

I bought this watch in early November. It is gorgeous. However sometime over Christmas water appeared inside the watch. Amazon said I had to work through the manufacturer. So I sent the watch to SWI on January 3rd. Note, today is May 3rd!!!! I received a snail mail estimate to fix this watch the first week in February. The cost...$80.00. Despite the warranty the company said I must have had the stem pulled out. Well the stem is so difficult to pull out that I needed help to wind the watch when I received it. The stem was not pulled out. At any rate, I called and gave my credit card information immediately. I called the company at least four times over the next 8 weeks. If I could get through representatives were rude and reminded me that repairs would take 6-8 weeks. I called three weeks ago and was told that my credit card did not go through so they never fixed the watch. I asked when they ran the card as I had fraudulent activity on the card so the number was changed however that was long after the day I called with the information. Sure enough they waited to run the card and did not run it on the day, the week or the month I called with the info. I asked why the last person I spoke to two weeks prior to this call did not tell me about the credit card issue. They said yes they could see I called and they weren't sure why the rep did not tell me my watch wasn't being repaired because the card number wouldn't process. I asked why they hadn't contacted me to tell me there was a problem with the card. They said they had no way ofcontacting me. i pointed out thatthey sent me an estimate?? So given all of this hassle, I asked if they could expedite the repair since they have had my watch for nearly four months. The rep said well no that is a different department. They have now had my watch twice as long as I did. Do not do business with SWI!!!! Lousy customer service is not a strong enough adjective. I gave it one star cause Amazon rocks and the watch is gorgeous. The company deserves a -5!

Beautiful watch with exceptional craftsmanship

My boyfriend and I both own Nixon watches, I bought his several years ago for his birthday and I received this watch for our anniversary. The watch is very well made the watch glass is scratch resistant and the swarovski crystals shine brilliantly. It took some getting used to know which dials do what but I still tend to forget. Personally I love the watch and get compliments on it daily (yes I wear it everyday), it is on the heavy side for a woman's watch but Nikon is completely worth it. Extremely pleased with this purchase and I would definitely purchase another Nixon watch in the future.

Does the job....

I also own a Garmin S3 and had a chance this past weekend to compare both on the course. They both were fairly accurate within 5 yards of markers. I found the auto hole feature a little finicky as the GPS sporadically had me on different holes, I disabled this and chose to manually change the holes as I played them. The display on the S3 is much crisper and easier to read although the Skycaddie wasn't bad at all, just a bit more pixelated. From a cosmetic standpoint, I now wear the Skycaddie as a daily watch as I do like the look and light weight of the watch.

FEE FEE FEE to use it! STOP it!

SkyCaddie has to tell people the they charge a fee to use the darn watch. I returned it as soon as it came in. Did not realize it you have to pay an extra fee to turn it on and use it.
for a $200 watch and a yearly fee?. for $50 more get a Garmin s3 with a touch screen/dog legs and green view. Go to hell SkyCaddie!!!

I purchased this watch about 7 months ago, in the early part of my deployment to afghanistan. With the rough, and tough work I do this watch had no problem keeping up.. The Ballistic calculation option has really advanced my civilian shooting talent as well! I purchased a suunto as well, and well the suunto broke and the 5.11 is still on my wrist! Overall Best Watch I Have Ever Owned@!!!

do not buy this watch

I bought this watch as a gift for my husband who is a fireman in AZ. Prior to buying a watch, I researched several different makes and models. I settled on this one after reading reviews. The conditions where we live are harsh and the watch gets a lot of abuse. It holds up like a champion and is a really great choice for those who work in protective service. It also has a lot of fun options that really come in handy in the field. He gets a lot of compliments on the watch and always thanks me for it.

Update May 2013: The watch failed. Condensation was collecting as if there was a leak in the watch however the face and seal appear to be intact. The watch has never been under water, has never been bashed, banked, exposed to chemicals or mistreated in a way to cause a seal to fail. I called 5.11 tactical customer service who were not polite on the phone. They advised AMAZON IS NOT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY WILL NOT COVER WATCHES SOLD BY AMAZON "because we don't knwo where they really came from.....". Also, watches that are over 2 years old (ours is 2 years 5 months!!) are no longer covered by warranty. Bottom line- a watch from target that was 1/4 the price has outlasted this watch. What a waste and poor customer service. Maybe these watches used to be made better or we simply got a defective piece. Either way, we are out about $200 and have a junk watch.

Not as good as it should be.

This watch looks great. The ergonomics on this watch are outstanding as well. However, the glass on the face of the watch is extremely cheap. After having the watch for only 1 week the face already has a scratch on it. This is not a hard use everyday watch. I have a casio with 2 years wear that has less damage. This should be a better watch for this price. do your self a favor and buy a G-shock.

Excellent Watch, Great Price

Purchased this watch for my wife. Buying online at Amazon for less than $500.00 was a great value. Tissot is a very good Swiss brand with great heritage - they make very good movements & their products are solid. I own a Rolex, & while this watch costs far less, it still has some very nice features you'd expect to find on much higher end products, such as a synthetic Sapphire crystal (same as my Rolex Submariner). The case will eventually scratch (they all do), but the crystal should not, which means it will look good and "new" for years to come.

My wife loves the design, the rubber bracelet is very comfortable & was easy to size, & overall she's very happy with it. To compare, the same exact watch was $600.00 on a cruise ship we were on during a recent trip, and $650.00 at the big mall in Las Vegas across from the Wynn resort & casino. $650.00 is the full sticker price, so it's a much better value here.

Casual, Work, Dress!

This watch is classy and utilitarian at the same time. Very nice looking casual, dress and work watch all rolled in to one. The two toned case is well designed and offers a good amount of protection. The numbers are easy to read and the chronograph not only adds to the looks but is quite useful for timing. The sapphire crystal is one of the best types because it offers excellent scratch resistance. The band needs to be fitted and you must cut a piece or so off at a time. I used very sharp German scissors to cut one piece off at a time until I obtained the right fit for her. You may also fine tune your adjustment using the three holes provided. Your cuts don't need to be perfect because the cutting area is hidden. When my spouse heard the cost she wanted me to return it until she opened it for her birthday. The box and booklet are a keeper along with the black storage pouch. Take your time cutting the band for that custom fit. This watch has form and function.

Good enough for every day use

I picked this one for myself because I like the simple elegant design, and it proved to be true to the picture when it arrived. The black background is a good alternative since it made the rest stand out. It has a second hand, a date and day calendar, and luminent hands which glow brightly in dark (which wasn't in the description even at Citizen website), and the design is simple elegant.

I read a previous review about the glass surface, - it is true, my 3mm scratch showed up two days after I merely wore it. No matter how careful you are, this is meant to happen for this kind of surface. I asked a watchsmith and he said replacing it will cost around $100. At the price I paid (130+)I think it is a good catch compare to my previous watch (swiss army brand, 300+). I think the surface is probably what set the price differnce. I am okey with it though because of the price and I no longer need to replace battery every two years (which is also bad for water resistance). I swimmed, stemed and saunaed with it, and no problem so far (two months).

Also, Amazon's policy is return within 30 days unwore and chain unadjusted - so pay attention if you don't want to keep it.

Fantastic watch! Great vendor!

Everything written by the other reviewers is true. This is a fantastic watch and I am glad I purchased it!

A few notes: the watch is a little darker than pictured. The black face adds to that illusion. Also, I have small wrists, which I worried about when making the purchase. However, the watch ended up being smaller than I expected. The watch face looks very natural and is not overly large.

I purchased from the vendor NextDayWatches.com, which I found on Amazon. They are fantastic - they ship 2nd day air for less than $3! They also guarantee your purchase for 365 days. Also, they sell a watch resizing tool for $6 that allows you to remove the extra metallic bands yourself. It required a small learning curve (although I think they post instructions on their website), but I was able to resize the watch myself and now it fits perfectly on my wrist.

Great Littleweight Watch!

I researched watches for several weeks because I wanted that a watch that would last more than one year. The watch has glowing arms that makes it easy to tell time in the dark. I especially love that I do not have to buy batteries for my watch anymore. I initially placed the watch under a lamp when I first received it to charge up the battery. It has worked great and the face of my watch is not scratched yet. I try to be very careful with it. I took it to the jeweler the day I received it and had the additional links removed so it would fit my arm. I realized that that was the reason why all of my watches in the past had scratched up faces.

Any discount you get is not worth buying a watch from Amazon

I have wanted this watch for awhile and bought it Jan 2011. After only three months (just past the limit to return to Amazon) the stem/bezel popped off. This was fairly unreal given the cost of the watch. But what has made it worse, is that I am unable to use the regular Tag Warranty because I bought it from Amazon....and Amazon only covers mechanical problems. I tried to explain that because the glass is exposed..... mechanical problems could ensue. After speaking to three different departments within Amazon (warranties, customer service and consultation with a manager) I am awaiting the answer from final department (jewelry and watches). I will post the answer so that others may know their options before purchasing a Tag from Amazon.

As an Update:
After more than 6 phone calls, 9 emails etc. I have found out that Amazon will DO NOTHING TO DEAL WITH THE WATCH. I saved for this watch a long time, and after three months it is broken. If I do wear it I risk getting water or dirt into it. I took it a repair shop this morning and was told Amazon sells overseas-watches that are of lesser quality. The repair shop says it sees many Amazon watches in for repair. So you can make an informed choice....Note: I saved 250 dollars buying my watch from Amazon. My watch repair will take 3-6 weeks and will cost 250 dollars. This is only the first repair for this watch and it is exactly what it would have cost to have the real warranty, rather than the "useless warranty" from Amazon. I have always been a diehard Amazon person, this event has changed the way I view the quality of their items and has diminished any respect I have for their customer service and policies.

Nice watch but less than 3 months after we purchased it thru Amazon the stem fell off and since it's not an internal problem it is not covered under their 2 year warranty.
