I love this watch!

I couldnt be happier with this Rotary Aquaspeed watch! I've been looking for a replacement for my current watch for a while now and nothing seemed to spark my interest until finding this beauty. The stainless steel is versatile for everyday wear and I find it easy to dress it up or down. I worried that a steel bracelet would be too heavy, but it really wasnt much of an adjustment to my current leather strap watch. I was really drawn to the brilliant crystals and pink pearl face which add a touch of femininity. Even with daily wear, the watch refuses to scratch and I havent had any problems mechanically. I absolutely love this watch and I'm looking to buy another from Rotary for my mother this Christmas.

The watch looks far better in the metal than the pictures can do justice. Watch the video clip Amazon has posted to get an idea of how the light plays on the dial. I bought this for my niece who is very sporty and active, but wanted something she could dress up or down. The combination of mother of pearl and stones, with the rugged, waterproof appearance and the chrono function gives the watch just the right personality.
The watch looks and feels well made. I prefer heavier stainless steel watches myself, but this is a little on the heavy side for a ladies watch (may be an indication of quality?). My niece had to adjust to it, because her daily beater is a light-weight cheapie. However, she was happy to do so because she liked the chunky nature of the watch.
The bracelet is not highly integrated into the style of the case, which means you can easily replace it with a leather band, without it looking as if something is missing. As with all metal bracelets, you have to wear the watch a while before it loosens up and conforms to your wrist. I offered my niece a white leather strap, but she opted to stay with the bracelet and says it is now quite comfortable and she no longer notice either the bracelet or the weight of the watch.
Given that it is a quartz movement and not a mechanical movement, I am not sure the watch is worth the full list price but don't let that put you off. At the sale price it represents very good value for money indeed. While I prefer mechanical watches, I wanted a quartz for my niece. She has no sentimentality about watch movements, she just wants something reliable and accurate. As she will also not wear it everyday, it makes sense that she does not have to keep it wound up, or set it every time she does want to wear it - she can simply decide to wear it on the spur of the moment. Had it been mechanical, it would have needed its first service while she while she was still at university. Which student has money to service a watch? If you have no special feelings about mechanical watch movements, Swiss quartz is the way to go - why pay more for something you can't see, will need care and servicing, and is also less accurate?
The watch looks far more expensive on the wrist and the 'Swiss Made' on the dial gives one some confidence. This is very important for us in South Africa, where the time and cost of returning a purchase for a claim guarantee is often not worth the effort. I looked at another heavily discounted Swiss make (which does not have 'Swiss Made' on the dial) and was scared off by all the poor reviews. No such issues with Rotary.
One other thing; Amazon must surely have set a new record for the delivery of this watch! I ordered it on the evening of Thursday the 19th (Maldives time) and it was delivered to my parent's street address on the morning of Monday the 23rd in South Africa! Allowing for the weekend, this is sheer brilliance! I will update the review once my niece has had more time to wear it and knock it about a bit.

Beautiful, sporty yet feminine, quality made with swiss quartz movement, sapphire crystal, sturdy band. Nice heavy feel to it. Love everything about it!
